YET, ALREADY, JUST, EVER, NEVER with the PRESENT PERFECT.


YET

1,Meaning: todavĂ­a/encara.

2,Used in Negative and Interrogative Sentences
3,Always at the end of the sentence.



Example:

I haven't done my homework yet.



ALREADY

1, Meaning: ya

2, Used in affirmative sentences.

3, Used between the auxiliary verb have or has and the past participle.



Example:

I have already done my homework.



JUST



1, Meaning: acabo de (recent action)

2, Used in affirmative sentences.

3, Used between the auxiliary verb have or has and the past participle.



Example: I have just watched a video.



EVER

1, Meaning: alguna vez

2, Used in interrogative sentences.

3, Used after HAVE+SUBJECT in the interrogative sentences.

Example:

Have you ever been to Brazil?


Do not CONFUSE with FOREVER AND EVER. Para siempre.



NEVER

1, Meaning: mai/nunca

2, Used in affirmative sentences.

3, Used between the auxiliary verb have or has and the past participle.



She has never drunk “mate” tea.

PRESENT PERFECT. Form and Use.


Form.

Affirmative

SUBJECT+ HAVE/HAS+ Past Participle.

Examples:

I have visited my aunt.
She has prepared a cake.

My friend and I have eaten the cake.

The three have had lots of fun.

Negative

Examples:

I haven't visited my aunt. ( I have not visited my aunt).

She hasn't prepared a cake. ( She has not prepared a cake).

My friend and I haven't eaten the cake. ( My friend and I have not eaten the cake)

Has he gone to the stadium? Yes, he has/ No, he hasn't.


USE OF THE PRESENT PERFECT.


1. We use it talk about experiences.

I have eaten snakes in Australia.

2. We use it to talk about actions that began in the past and still continue.

Steven Gerrard has played many years for Liverpool. (He still plays there)
Xabi Alonso played for Liverpool. ( He now plays for Real Madrid)

FORM

Affirmative. I used to play basketball. USED TO+ Infinitive.

Negative. I didn't use to play basketball.

Question. Did you use to play basketball? Yes, I did. No, I didn't.
